The challenges these young mothers encounter are deeply rooted in societal norms and economic limitations:
Cultural Expectations: In some communities, young mothers are expected to assume domestic roles, often at the expense of their education.
Childcare Challenges: Lack of affordable childcare options makes it difficult for student mothers to attend school.
Academic Setbacks: Once they miss classes, young mothers often struggle to catch up, especially without additional academic support.
Through a holistic approach, Najinusuru Foundation supports student mothers with programs that address these challenges head-on:
Suru Care Centers: By offering affordable daycare services, we enable student mothers to focus on their studies while knowing their children are well cared for. These centers serve both student and non-student mothers, with fees for the latter helping sustain the program.
Mentorship and Psychosocial Support: Najinusuru’s mentors and counselors provide emotional and mental health support. This includes guidance and problem-solving skills that help young mothers build resilience and overcome stigma.
Academic Assistance: Remedial classes and study resources give these mothers a fair chance at academic success. Tutoring helps fill learning gaps, ensuring they’re not left behind.Najinusuru has already seen the positive impact of its programs. Many student mothers, who once struggled with balancing academics and motherhood, are now thriving. With access to childcare, mentorship, and academic support, these young women are not only completing their studies but also setting examples in their communities.Real Stories of Change
